In April 2019, we made a trip to Fraser's Hill, a hill in Pahang, Malaysia that is popular with birders both locally and internationally. Unless you have connections to be able to book the privately managed corporate bungalows there, you will be staying in places such as Shahzan Inn Fraser's Hill or Puncak Inn or Fraser's Silverpark Resort. (via Air BnB or Agoda or whichever online accommodation platform that you might be familiar with). In our case, we got an apartment in Silverpark Resort that allowed us to do our own cooking, whether it is for breakfast or supper. Fraser Hill today has more places that one can get their meals after a long day of birdwatching, but a pro-tip advice to safe money is to get your supplies from Kuala Kubu Bharu, the town that you will likely to pass on the way to Fraser Hill.
As for birding, going with birding veterans or hiring a guide would be a good choice to save time. Fortunately for us, this is not our first time to Fraser Hill. It helps to also observe and talk to fellow birders where are the "hot" birding spots of the day as well. For this trip, the "catch" of the day for me is the female Red-headed Trogon. (a "lifer" for me). If i made a mistake in identifying any of the birds below, kindly comment below. There is also a bird, unnamed in the picture. Do help if you know what it is.
