Little red flying foxes (Pteropus scapulatus) (Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve)

Little red flying foxes (Pteropus scapulatus) are commonly called as bats, but in the case of this little red flying foxes, this colony can be easily spotted roosting at the Visitor Center of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. This bats play an important role in dispersing seeds and pollinating flowering plants and are crucial inthe biodiversity of plant life and in keeping native forests healthy. Without the little red flying foxes, there won't be durian for us to eat is an example of how the pollination of durian flowers are assisted by this bats.
